Emilie is a beautifully crafted female centric historical drama. Lighting plays a key role in this show almost as a "character" itself stopping our main character from interacting directly with the story being told of her life and instead forcing her to instead only be an observer.

From the start of the production process there was a lot of discussion about how we can break between the story itself and characters "breaking the 4th wall" to speak directly to the audience. A lot of these moments were highlighted with changes in lighting to clearly communicate the change.
